Which of our services are the best fit for you?
Verification of benefits
If you decide that you'd like us to verify your benefits, you can pay the verification of benefits fee here. We'll get in touch with your insurer, and we'll send you and your midwife a report that explains your coverage.
Gap exception guide
Depending on the terms of your coverage, you might want to request a gap exception so that your care is processed and paid from your in-network benefits.
Over time, we noticed that our gap exception calls were getting more time-consuming and less successful, so we decided to try another tactic. We created a guide that includes the information you'll need to request a gap exception -- procedure and diagnosis codes, your provider's tax ID and NPI numbers, and rationales that can help to prove your request is medically necessary -- as well as detailed instructions for making the call. Insurance companies seem to be more responsive to members than providers, which makes sense: you're paying the premiums! You can purchase the gap exception guide here.
Claim preparation & submission
You can pay the claim preparation and submission fee here. We suggest waiting to file claims until you've completed care with your midwife (usually after your six-week postpartum visit if you're receiving pregnancy-related care) -- follow-up is simpler that way! Email us when you've had your last visit and we'll get in touch with your midwife to get the information we'll need to submit your claim(s).
Most people choose to submit two claims: one for their care and one for their baby's care. The billed amount for a newborn's care usually totals several hundred to a thousand dollars, so the potential reimbursement often exceeds the additional claim prep fee we charge. If you'd like us to file a claim for your care and a claim for your baby's care, please change the quantity on the payment page to 2.
